ROOTS & RELICS

MEET THE BAND

Roots and Relics was formed at St. Patrick’s Parish in Whitinsville, Massachusetts, out of a shared love for traditional Irish and Celtic music, along with Celtic-inspired styles from around the globe. Each member brings their own diverse musical background—classical, jazz, rock, and traditional American music—creating a unique fusion that honors Celtic traditions while offering something fresh and engaging.

Jillian Martin (Violinist)
Jillian Martin of Sutton began studying violin at age six with Gurine Fogg and continued with Monica Vander Baan through high school. She holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from UMass Lowell and has performed widely in churches and nursing homes across the region. Her blend of classical technique and community focus enriches every performance.

Bert Baldarelli (Percussionist)
A lifelong percussionist, Bert grew up in West Boylston Massachusetts and has been a resident of Sutton MA for the last 30 years. He began drumming in fifth grade and studied privately with Philip Salah of Worcester MA. He has extensive experience across orchestral, jazz, and hand percussion styles. A member of St. Patrick’s Parish music ministry since 1998, Bert specializes in the traditional Irish bodhrán. He holds degrees from Fitchburg State University and Nichols College (MBA) and continues to share his love of rhythm and community through music.

Christopher Bilodeau (Guitar, Piano, Vocals)
Christopher Bilodeau’s musical journey began as a student at the prestigious Boston Archdiocese Choir School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he studied under the renowned Dr. Theodore Marier. This early training instilled in him a deep appreciation for the beauty and discipline of music. Chris went on to study jazz piano at Berklee College of Music, composition at the Longy School of Music of Bard College, and earned his degree in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He currently serves as Director of Music at a Catholic
church in Whitinsville, where he lives with his wife and their four children. His background in choral, jazz, and liturgical music brings depth and versatility to the Roots and Relics sound.

Katrina Ireland Bilodeau (Vocals, Bass Guitar, Ukulele)
Katrina Ireland Bilodeau has been making music for as long as she can remember—singing around the house, strumming a ukulele, or finding harmony wherever it fits. A lifelong performer with a bachelors degree in Vocal Performance, she has sung in a cappella and vocal jazz groups, show choirs, and musical theater. Today, she brings her voice, ukulele, and bass to the band’s Celtic sound, celebrating her Irish roots with every tune. For her, music is all about connection—sharing songs, stories, and a bit of joy along the way.

Matthew Reilly (Penny Whistle)
Matthew Reilly of Whitinsville is a retired English teacher with the Northbridge School District who has been active in music and theater throughout his life. He holds a B.A. in Speech and Theatre from Bridgewater State College and began his career in professional and musical theatre, later performing with the Heritage String Band, a Civil War-era group. His passion for Irish culture and performance adds both authenticity and storytelling depth to Roots and Relics.
